About the Role
💼 Role: AI Policy Research Lead (Full-time Consultant – 1 year)
📍 Location: New Delhi (travel across India as needed)
💰 Compensation: ₹15–17 LPA
📆 Duration: 12 months (extension possible)

As an AI Policy Research Lead, you will guide CDL’s efforts to advance ethical and inclusive AI policies. This role offers the opportunity to engage with policymakers, government bodies, academia, and civil society to build AI frameworks aligned with the public good.
You’ll lead high-impact research, workshops, and collaborations, helping shape the societal, ethical, and legal dimensions of AI adoption.
Key Responsibilities
AI Research and Analysis
- Conduct research on AI policy, ethical frameworks, and governance.
- Analyse AI risks and benefits, focusing on fairness, transparency, and security.
- Develop case studies and comparative analyses of AI strategies globally.
- Stay updated on global AI policies (GDPR, EU AI Act).
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with government bodies, CSOs, and academia.
- Represent CDL at conferences and workshops.
Ethics and Impact Assessment
- Build frameworks to assess the social and economic impacts of AI.
- Ensure alignment with ethical AI practices and regulatory requirements.
Project Management
- Oversee large-scale AI initiatives and manage cross-functional teams.
- Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions to drive innovation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Ph.D. or Master’s in Policy Research, Data Science, Computer Science, AI, Law, or related fields.
- 7+ years of experience in AI/ML policy research, with at least 3 years in leadership.
Strong expertise in:
- AI governance principles and regulations (GDPR, EU AI Act)
- AI systems and risk management frameworks
- Model lifecycle management and validation techniques
- Exceptional problem-solving and collaboration skills.
