INHR is a U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a presence in New York and Geneva. The organization focuses on leveling the international playing field in AI governance. INHR collaborates with international experts, particularly from China and the United States, to host AI governance dialogues. These projects emphasize risk identification and mitigation, particularly in high-risk and existential risk contexts, such as:
- Weapons of mass destruction (chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear)
- Military decision support
- Human rights
The selected AI Program Officer will have the opportunity to work with leading academics, former officials, and practitioners from the U.S., China, Europe, India, Korea, and other countries. The role may also involve 1-2 international trips per year to attend conferences such as:
- AI4Good Summit
- Biological Weapons Convention
- Responsible AI in the Military Summit
- Various AI safety summits worldwide
About the Role
Compensation: USD 40,000 per year
Location: Remote
Responsibilities
- Manage budgets and financial planning for AI governance projects
- Act as a liaison with international experts
- Conduct research and reporting on AI governance-related topics
- Assist in organizing AI governance dialogues and summits
- Support risk identification and mitigation initiatives
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in AI governance, international relations, or a related field
- Excellent written English skills
- Ability to start by June 1, 2025
- Fluency in Chinese, Korean, or Russian (preferred)
- Programming skills or experience with LLMs (preferred)
- Prior experience in foreign affairs, military, or AI governance (preferred)
- Open to part-time work for candidates completing their dissertation (graduating in summer or early fall)
Additional Skills
- Experience in technical support, budget & finance, fundraising, human resources, or corporate governance for non-profits is a plus
