About ATREE:
Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE) is dedicated to interdisciplinary research and action on environmental conservation and sustainable development. The Centre for Learning and Exchange fosters collaboration among researchers, practitioners, and local communities to promote inclusive knowledge-sharing and engagement.
Role Overview:
The Community Builder will be responsible for strengthening networks and fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders involved in research, conservation, and sustainability initiatives. The role focuses on facilitating knowledge exchange, promoting community engagement, and amplifying local voices in decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and nurture relationships with researchers, policymakers, local communities, and NGOs.
- Facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions, dialogues, and workshops to enhance collaboration between ATREE, INR, and external partners.
- Develop strategies to strengthen community engagement in research and conservation initiatives.
- Create and manage platforms (digital and in-person) for ongoing interaction, such as discussion forums, newsletters, and learning exchanges.
- Document and amplify community voices and local knowledge, ensuring inclusivity in research and decision-making processes.
- Collaborate with the communications team to share stories, case studies, and insights from the Centre’s activities.
- Support the design and implementation of training programs that empower local communities and stakeholders.
- Monitor and evaluate engagement strategies, adapting them based on feedback and impact assessment.
Eligibility Criteria:
Required Qualifications:
- A degree in social sciences, communications, environmental studies, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in community engagement, stakeholder management, or participatory research.
- Strong facilitation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in organizing events, workshops, or capacity-building initiatives.
- Familiarity with digital engagement tools and social media for community-building.
- Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary and cross-cultural environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in conservation, sustainability, or rural development projects.
- Knowledge of participatory research methodologies.
- Proficiency in Hindi, Telugu, or Marathi.
