Nirantar Trust & The Third Eye

The Third Eye is a vibrant feminist think tank at the crossroads of gender, sexuality, violence, technology, and education. Powered by Nirantar Trust, it owes its name to the visionary Jyotiba Phule, who saw education as the “third eye” that opens up new ways of seeing the world. The Third Eye sprang from a pressing need: to create open, bilingual resources for those often left out of mainstream knowledge networks, especially in the digital era.

With a deep commitment to inclusivity, The Third Eye brings over three decades of Nirantar’s grassroots knowledge into the digital sphere. Its online platform is a treasure trove for educators, grassroots workers, policy makers, researchers, and communities—urban and rural alike. Through storytelling, research, and collaborative learning, it fosters a space where marginalised voices are heard and valued. The Third Eye’s work is both online and offline: it curates immersive digital content and organises hands-on training and exchanges with grassroots organisations, always with a feminist and democratic ethos.

At its heart, The Third Eye is about breaking down barriers and building communities of learning, where everyone can contribute, adapt, and share. By nurturing public discourse and self-directed education, it is helping shape a future where knowledge is accessible, empowering, and transformative for all.
