Role

The role of Finance Assistant at Teach For India is a crucial support position within the organisation’s fast-paced Finance team in Mumbai, helping to maintain accurate bookkeeping, timely processing of payments, and seamless stakeholder communication. Responsibilities

  • Maintain and record entries in the books of accounts on a regular basis.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports for donors and ensure timely submissions.
  • Manage files, records, and supporting documents to meet legal and statutory requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain the asset register for both internal and external use.
  • Process reimbursements and vendor payments promptly.
  • Reconcile ledgers and prepare bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and tax regulations, including timely payments.
  • Respond to finance-related queries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support finalisation of accounts, audits, and provide assistance across all verticals.
  • Aid in secretarial functions, including correspondence and filing.
  • Perform miscellaneous tasks as directed by the Finance Manager.

Requirements

  • A Graduate degree in Commerce (0–4 years relevant experience).
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Knowledge of accounting concepts and applied accounting with working knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Good communication skills and strong interpersonal abilities for collaboration.
  • Commitment to accuracy and attention to detail; high integrity and accountability.
  • Willingness to personally author statements in the application process, as the use of AI tools for this may lead to disqualification.
