Slam Out Loud
What happens when poetry meets the classroom? Slam Out Loud (SOL) is finding out. This organisation uses storytelling, visual arts, and theatre to build Creative Confidence in children from under-resourced communities whilst exploring social justice themes like climate and gender. Their Jijivisha Fellowship places artists directly in classrooms across Delhi, Pune, Mumbai, and Bangalore, with 75% of children showing measurable growth in socio-emotional learning skills. Meanwhile, their Arts for All program partners with state governments in Punjab and Maharashtra to train teachers on arts-based learning. Since 2017, SOL has reached 3,00,000 children in person and touched 10.5 million lives digitally.
