Role

The Climate, Economics & Finance (CEF) Program at WRI India is seeking an Associate Program Director, Communications to lead communication and outreach strategies, with a special focus on data visualization, economic modeling, and quantitative analysis. This position reports to the Executive Director of the CEF Program and coordinates with both the CEF and WRI India's core communications teams.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with program leads and communications teams to develop and implement a high-impact communication and outreach strategy for the CEF Program, especially targeting economic modeling and quantitative analysis.
  • Develop and execute creative approaches to data visualization in areas such as low-carbon development pathways, climate finance, subnational climate action, industrial decarbonization, and green skilling.
  • Increase the visibility and engagement of the CEF Program with relevant stakeholders, using innovative methods to communicate programmatic research and data-driven insights.
  • Provide strategic support and outreach in response to relevant external developments.
  • Align programmatic communications with institutional processes, streamline procedures, and improve team efficiency.
  • Monitor and evaluate communications strategy implementation, document impacts, and adapt approaches as required.
  • Represent the CEF Program internally and externally as needed.

Requirements

  • Postgraduate degree in communications, journalism, or a related field, with demonstrated interest or experience in sustainable development, climate action, or related sectors.
  • Minimum 15+ years of experience in strategic communications, marketing, public relations, and/or journalism, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience using data for in-depth analysis and storytelling to showcase programmatic work.
  • Previous publication in professional media outlets.
  • Strong managerial experience and the ability to lead dynamic teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast-paced and multicultural environments, both independently and as part of a global team.
  • Prior experience in a non-profit organization is an advantage.
