The Association for Progressive Communications (APC) has been a driving force for social justice through digital technology since its founding in 1990. Starting with just seven organisations, APC has expanded into a diverse global network of 73 members. Its work centres on using the power of the internet and digital tools to challenge inequalities and promote human rights, especially in the Global South.

APC believes that digital technologies can create a more just and sustainable world. It champions the internet as a global public good that connects and empowers excluded groups, activists, and communities. This vision includes caring for people and the planet by supporting movements that fight against social, gender, and environmental injustice.
At its heart, APC operates on strong feminist values and a commitment to collaboration, trust, and respect. The organisation is built on the expertise of its members and staff, nurturing an inclusive culture focused on advancing digital rights and digital inclusion worldwide. APC creates safe and open online spaces that allow diverse voices to be heard, particularly those often left out of mainstream internet governance conversations.
APC’s work spans research, advocacy, and capacity building. It engages policy makers, media, civil society, and communities to shape the future of the internet. By addressing issues such as digital privacy, connectivity, and equitable access to technology, APC strives to ensure the internet benefits everyone.
With a focus on the Global South, APC prioritises the leadership and participation of people from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean. The network supports local initiatives, builds partnerships, and mobilises global support for causes around digital justice.
In all its actions, APC is committed to transparency, integrity, and social impact. Its ongoing mission is to harness the collective power of its community to build a world where digital technologies enable care, freedom, and opportunity for all.
