FOSS United is a non-profit foundation focused on building a local ecosystem for Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) in India. We believe in the power of open technology to create a better world and work to bring together developers, enthusiasts, and communities to learn and grow together.

Role

We are looking for a creative, internet-savvy intern to help manage our online presence and shape the conversation around open-source software in India through engaging campaigns and events.

Responsibilities

• Support FOSS United’s campaigns by brainstorming and designing messaging for initiatives like Forklore and IndiaRunsOnFOSS.
• Manage social media platforms and help grow our online community.
• Contribute to flagship events such as IndiaFOSS and FOSSHack.
• Assist with organizing community meetups and partner events.
• Help create a positive and fun discourse around software freedom.

Requirements

• 0–1 year of relevant experience in digital communication or content creation.
• Strong creative writing skills with a good sense of humor.
• Proficiency in basic video editing or graphic design is a big plus.
• Familiarity with regional Indian languages is an advantage.
• A deep understanding of internet culture and social media trends.
• Ability to work independently in a remote or hybrid environment.
• Passion for the FOSS ecosystem and community building.
• Duration: 3 months, ideally starting April 2026
