Alliance for Conserving Freshwater Ecosystems

Founded in 2024, the Alliance is a national collaborative network dedicated to protecting and restoring India’s freshwater ecosystems. They function on a sociocratic model, bringing together a diverse group of NGOs, researchers, community leaders, and students. Instead of working in silos, the Alliance creates spaces—called "circles"—for these groups to share knowledge, align on data, and take regional action. Their goal is to enable informed, locally rooted conservation efforts at scale.

Role

You will serve as the connective tissue of the Alliance. This is a full-time role for a self-driven individual who loves bringing order to complex networks. You will manage the operational flow between different working circles, ensuring that people, information, and opportunities move smoothly across the ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Coordination: Manage the member sign-up process, vet new entries, and onboard them into the Community Circle. You will also handle logistics like scheduling meetings, sending reminders, and recording key decisions for the various circles.
  • Communications: Maintain a consistent presence on LinkedIn and Instagram using existing design templates. You will also curate and publish a monthly newsletter featuring updates, stories, and opportunities from across the network.
  • Cross-pollination: Actively monitor discussions to identify synergies between members. You will be responsible for making introductions and connecting people who might benefit from collaborating with each other.
  • Pulse Keeping: Proactively enable linkages rather than waiting for instructions. You will help the system run smoothly by solving small problems and flagging relevant overlaps in work.

Requirements

  • Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage administrative tasks, take notes, and keep processes running without constant supervision.
  • Digital Fluency: Comfort with web-based tools is essential. You should be familiar with CMS platforms (like Framer, WordPress, or Google Sites), email platforms, and basic design tools like Canva.
  • Communication: Excellent spoken and written skills with an ability to curate information effectively. You don't need to be a designer, but a basic aesthetic sense for template-based posts is required.
  • Mission Alignment: A genuine interest in ecology, freshwater conservation, or environmental action is critical.
  • Attitude: You must be a "doer" who enjoys working with networks and is comfortable interacting with people across India.

Benefits

  • Work at the center of a national network driving environmental change.
  • Ample support from the Coordination Circle and active members of the Alliance.
  • Competitive compensation package with a comprehensive benefits program.
  • Opportunity to work with a sociocratic governance model.

Apply

The selection process involves three steps:

  1. Application: Submit your CV, Cover Letter, and a 2–3 minute video via the Google Form. The video should not be scripted; they want to hear you speak naturally about your interest in the role and your experience with coordination.
  2. Task: Shortlisted candidates will complete a practical task to demonstrate digital skills and aesthetic sense.
  3. Interview: Candidates who do well on the task will have up to two rounds of interviews.

Note: The Alliance strongly discourages the use of AI tools for writing or ideating during the application process.
