Role

At WOTR, communications means giving voice to rural communities and showcasing how climate action transforms lives. You'll be a storyteller, connector and bridge between field work, research, donors, and the wider world, shaping how the organisation is seen whilst carrying its values in every story.

Responsibilities

Craft and implement communication strategies focused on climate action impact
Write compelling stories, narratives, and social media posts that resonate with multiple audiences
Identify strong field stories and work closely with teams to bring them to life
Coordinate with external vendors and partners for timely delivery of communication products like annual reports
Use platforms like Shorthand, Canva, and WordPress to create engaging digital content
Disseminate communication outputs across digital media platforms
Create content for diverse media including website, email newsletters, social media, print, and video
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop impactful communication strategies
Design visually compelling graphics and layouts using Canva for reports, posters, and promotional materials
Ensure consistent brand identity across all platforms
Craft crisp, impactful copy for WhatsApp and outreach platforms balancing social responsibility with marketing appeal
Travel to the field to connect with communities and gather authentic stories

Requirements

1-2 years of experience in communications, journalism, or related field
Writer at heart with ability to tell simple, human, and impactful stories
Curious mindset willing to dive deep into WOTR's work and climate action space
Reporter's instincts for spotting the right story and asking pertinent questions
Ability to translate complex work into engaging, credible, and relatable narratives
Strong command of written and spoken English (Hindi or Marathi skills advantageous)
Proficient in Canva and familiar with digital platforms
Active on social media platforms like LinkedIn, X, and Instagram
Team player able to collaborate across functions and cultures
Socially sensitive with genuine interest in development sector
Willingness to travel to field locations
