Pratham Books is a not-for-profit children’s book publisher established in 2004 with a mission to ensure “a book in every child’s hand.” Over the years, they have reached millions of children across India with quality, affordable books in various Indian languages. As an innovative publisher, Pratham Books launched its digital platform, StoryWeaver, in 2015, providing free access to stories under a CC0 license. This platform hosts multilingual stories that children can read, translate, and download for free.
About The Role
The Communications Executive will work closely with the marketing team to enhance Pratham Books’ brand presence, humanise its voice, and share impactful stories. The role encompasses social media management, content creation, and digital marketing.
Location: This is a full-time position based in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
Compensation: Salary will be based on qualifications and experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Social Media Management: Manage and schedule content for Pratham Books’ social media channels, including organic posts and digital marketing campaigns. Engage with the online audience through messages and comments.
- Design Support: Create basic designs for events, programmes, and presentations.
- Content Maintenance: Maintain blogs and archival pages.
- Newsletter Management: Design and send newsletters via Mailchimp for donor and campaigner outreach.
- Analytics and Reporting: Track marketing metrics using analytics tools, providing reports, and testing new initiatives to enhance outcomes.
Required Skills
- Experience: 1-3 years in marketing and communications, preferably in the social impact or nonprofit sector.
- Social Media Proficiency: Knowledge of Facebook, X, YouTube, Instagram, and familiarity with trends and analytics tools.
- Communication Skills: Strong writing and communication abilities.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with WordPress, Mailchimp, and Canva; basic design skills to create promotional content.
- Video Creation: Experience in video scripting, storyboarding, and styling is a plus.
- Attention to Detail: Keen eye for detail and ability to work within tight timelines.
- Interest in Publishing: Passion for children’s picture book publishing is a plus.
