Role
Are you driven by the ambition to reshape how India produces and consumes food for the benefit of people, nature, and the climate? WRI India is launching a multidisciplinary Food Systems Hub to drive policy research and large-scale change. As a Consultant for Hub Development, you will lay the groundwork for this new initiative—helping design its intellectual, analytical, and strategic foundations in the lead-up to a major launch in December 2025. This is an 8-month opportunity for professionals excited by systems thinking, policy integration, and transformative impact.
Responsibilities
- Prepare content and resources for the Hub's knowledge portal.
- Categorise and catalogue policy narratives, media, and institutional documents.
- Support stakeholder mapping and develop engagement frameworks.
- Analyse national and state policy responses affecting food systems.
- Track and summarise emerging global frameworks and initiatives.
- Contribute to presentations, policy briefs, synthesis reports, and strategic roadmaps.
- Prepare deliverables including:
- Data inventory and integrated indicator dashboard
- Stakeholder consultation summaries
- Landscape review document for food systems
- Annotated policy matrix (across ministries and schemes)
- Concept notes, frameworks, strategy, and operations plan for the Hub
- Carry out additional tasks as required for the successful establishment of the Hub.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Public Policy, Development Studies, Economics, or a related field.
- At least 2 years’ relevant work experience in research, consulting, or policy advisory roles.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills; ability to synthesise multidisciplinary evidence.
- Proficiency in statistical and analytical software, plus data visualisation tools.
- Experience working with both state and non-state datasets.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Collaborative, team-oriented approach with strong stakeholder engagement abilities.
