Air Quality Life Index (AQLI)
The Air Quality Life Index (AQLI) is a globally recognized, award-winning initiative that aims to create demand for clean air action by providing hyper-local data on the impact of air pollution on human life expectancy. Covering 252 countries and territories, AQLI produces annual reports on global air quality, develops regionally tailored analyses, maintains an interactive website, and shares its data openly on GitHub.
To support our data analysis efforts and maintain our open-source GitHub repository, we are seeking a skilled Data Analyst experienced in working with geospatial datasets and fluent in programming languages such as R or Python.
About the Role
Reporting to: Data Specialist, Air Quality Life Index
Location: Remote (with up to 20% travel for in-person meetings in Delhi)
Responsibilities
- Implement the annual data pipeline process, including processing raw satellite data into usable formats and applying further calculations.
- Maintain and update the openly accessible GitHub repository with clean and ready-to-use datasets.
- Perform analyses and generate visualizations (time series analysis, spatial averaging, regional comparisons, etc.) for AQLI’s annual report and other outreach activities.
- Write technical documentation describing methodologies and results from analyses.
- Assist with data collection, cleaning, preliminary analysis, and preparation of presentations and reports.
- Liaise with external partners, particularly website developers, to continue development of the AQLI platform.
- Occasionally travel to conferences and meetings to present AQLI findings.
- Support additional project-related tasks such as literature reviews, data analyses, and preparation for partnership meetings.
