About The Role

Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka (on-site)

  1. Develop, update and maintain the various dashboards that the program team uses for internal and external communication.
  2. Maintain and test existing data systems, as well as develop new systems as and when the requirement arises.
  3. Perform data cleaning and manipulation from various sources for efficient performance of data systems as well as catering to program requirements for various stakeholders.
  4. Develop competencies to improve on existing competencies in data visualization as well as data engineering to ensure effective delivery and as part of personal capacity building.
  5. Developing, organizing and maintaining large datasets in structured and unstructured formats to provide live insights under the analytics domain, understanding nuanced data ethics and security.
  6. Training and supervising both field-based and off-field data operations teams and ensure data quality.
  7. Conducting occasional internal training and workshops as part of capacity building and de-aggregation of competency dependency.
  8. Assisting in preparation of reports, documents and presentations for program team and clients as well as dissemination activities for learning purposes and concurrent evaluation.
  9. Reporting to the respective project manager on all of the above mentioned activities.
  10. Any other data related work for the Catalyst Group.

Essential skills and experience

  1. Intermediate or advanced level working with R or Python with the expectation to build at least intermediate level competency in both in the six months since joining.
  2. Familiarity in packages (For eg: Tidyverse group of packages in R and Pandas in Python) for
    1. data manipulation and transformation
    2. visualization.
  3. Intermediate to advanced level in Microsoft excel.
  4. Beginner/Intermediate level in Power BI.
  5. Familiarity with SQL databases.
  6. Strong documentation and report writing skills.
  7. Strong project management and execution skills.
  8. Ability to travel across the country for various field focused activities.

Desirable skills and experience

  1. At least intermediate level working with both R and Python for data cleaning, manipulation, transformation and visualization.
  2. Ability and experience in building data pipelines.
  3. Developing and maintaining SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
  4. Intermediate to advanced level in PowerBI.
  5. Previous experience in GIS data and technologies.
  6. Prior experience working with SurveyCTO.
  7. Familiarity in ArcGIS.
  8. Familiarity with APIs for data extraction.
  9. Familiarity with Linux.
  10. Previous experience working with the cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP) suite of services.
  11. Spoken fluency in Tamil or Telugu or both.

Recruitment Process

Shortlisted candidates can expect a recruitment process, carried out in three phases. In the first phase the shortlisted candidate would be required to complete a take-home assignment, which would constitute a coding and data cleaning and manipulation assignment. On clearing that, the second phase would involve a personal interview with the team lead along with a technical interview. The final phase would involve a psychometric test. The recruitment process should take around 4 weeks. Ability to travel across the country for various field focused activities.
