National e-Governance Division (NeGD)
The National e-Governance Division (NeGD) is an independent business division under the Digital India Corporation, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. NeGD plays a critical role in supporting MeitY’s Programme Management and implementing e-Governance projects at both Central and State levels.
NeGD drives several initiatives under the Digital India Programme, focusing on digital infrastructure, governance, and citizen empowerment. Key projects include DigiLocker, UMANG, Poshan Tracker, OpenForge Platform, API Setu, and many others.

As a Data Engineer at NeGD, you will be a key player in building and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers e-governance initiatives. Your work will support data-driven decision-making and public service delivery for Digital India projects.
Key Responsibilities
Data Pipeline Development
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes.
- Ensure the timely and accurate movement of data from diverse sources to data warehouses or lakes.
Data Integration
- Integrate data from databases, APIs, and third-party systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet data requirements.
Data Warehousing
- Develop and maintain data warehouse architectures for analytics.
- Optimize database schemas and queries for performance.
Data Quality and Governance
- Implement validation and cleansing processes to ensure data accuracy.
- Enforce governance policies and maintain documentation.
Performance Optimization
- Monitor and enhance the performance of data systems.
- Troubleshoot issues with pipelines and infrastructure.
Collaboration and Communication
- Support data scientists and analysts with their data needs.
- Provide technical guidance on best practices.
Security and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with government regulations and data protection laws.
- Implement measures to secure data integrity and privacy.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience in data engineering and building scalable data pipelines.
- Strong knowledge of data integration, warehousing, and ETL processes.
- Proficiency in database management and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with data quality and governance principles.
- Knowledge of data protection laws and security best practices.
