The University of Chicago Trust (the Trust) is a charitable trust in India, established in 2008 by alumni of The University of Chicago. The Trust’s primary goal is to support educational programs, research activities, and initiatives for the betterment of India.
About the Unit
The Data, Policy, and Innovation Centre (DPIC) is a 5-year strategic partnership between the Government of Odisha (GoOdisha)and the University of Chicago Trust, India. Funded by GoOdisha, the Centre leverages cutting-edge tools in econometrics, data science, and machine learning to drive evidence-based governance. DPIC also aims to enhance the decision-making process in Odisha and build the data capabilities of GoOdisha officials.
About The Role
Start Date: Immediate
Duration: 3–4 months
Location: Bhubaneswar, Odisha
DPIC is looking for a dynamic and skilled intern to assist in:
- Creating a hub for modern data analytics.
- Supporting training and capacity-building initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean, organize, and validate administrative datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Create visualizations and reports to communicate data-driven insights.
- Conduct a stocktaking exercise of data collection and management systems across select line departments, including MIS, dashboards, and decision support systems (DSS).
- For each line department, list the datasets available in digitized form and produce a brief description of each dataset.
Competencies
- Proficiency in data cleaning and analysis tools (e.g., Python, R, Stata).
- Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau).
- Strong understanding of the “data stack” (data management, analysis, and visualization tools).
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
