Role

Teach For India is inviting applications for the role of Director, Finance, a senior leadership position that anchors financial strategy, governance, and compliance across the organisation. The Director will serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership, ensuring resources are managed effectively to advance the mission of ending educational inequity in India. This is a critical opportunity to strengthen systems, empower teams, and shape long-term financial sustainability at one of India’s most transformative education movements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Finance team, consisting of a Senior Manager and two Managers, fostering a high-performance and service-driven culture.
  • Oversee all finance operations including accounting, cash flow management, payroll, donor reporting (including FCRA), statutory compliance, and vendor management.
  • Drive accurate and timely budgeting, forecasting, MIS reporting (NetSuite), and integration with Salesforce.
  • Strengthen systems, processes, and internal controls for efficiency, compliance, and risk management.
  • Collaborate with donors, auditors, Finance Committee, and cross-functional teams to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Support organisational priorities including fundraising, alumni engagement, and movement building with financial oversight.
  • Build capacity within the finance team through coaching, training, and leadership development.
  • As a part of the leadership team, contribute to organisational strategy, decision-making, and cross-programme alignment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years of post-qualification experience (CA/MBA Finance from a reputed institute).
  • At least 10 years of experience in finance leadership, with exposure to accounting, financial analysis, and compliance.
  • Experience in the social sector is preferred; familiarity with NetSuite is an advantage.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage large organisational budgets.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to communicate financial insights clearly.
  • Track record of driving automation, efficiency, and enhancing processes in finance.
  • Strategic thinker with exceptional attention to detail, critical analysis, and vision-driven leadership.
  • A strong belief in educational equity and the mission of Teach For India.
