Satyarthi Movement for Global Compassion (SMGC)

Founded by Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi, SMGC is a global movement that uses compassion to create justice, equality, peace, and sustainability. We build compassionate leaders and communities and work with different partners to bring about large-scale change. For us, compassion is mindful problem solving.

Role

Lead all fundraising for the organisation. You will create and execute a strategy to raise funds from high-net-worth individuals, corporations, and foundations, both in India and internationally, to support our mission.

Responsibilities

• Build a 3-year fundraising strategy with clear targets for different funding sources like individuals, companies, and foundations.
• Manage the entire donor journey, from finding potential donors to building long-term relationships with them.
• Design creative ways for donors to give, including large gifts, grants, and fundraising events.
• Represent SMGC and build strong relationships with partners, corporations, foundations, and influential networks.
• Work with the communications team to create compelling proposals, impact reports, and fundraising campaigns.
• Lead fundraising efforts across the organisation and collaborate with our global teams.
• Set up and manage a CRM system (like Salesforce or Zoho) for donor management.
• Ensure all fundraising activities follow Indian and international laws, such as FCRA and CSR rules.
• Manage the fundraising budget and provide regular progress reports to the board.

Requirements

• A Master’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
• 8 to 10+ years of direct fundraising experience, with a successful track record in securing large gifts from individuals and institutions, both in India and internationally.
• Experience in launching or growing new projects, preferably in research, education, or community empowerment.
• Strong understanding of donor management, digital marketing, and brand positioning.
• Knowledge of regulations like FCRA, CSR, 12A/80G, and data privacy.
• Excellent communication skills and comfortable using G-Suite and CRM software.
• Skilled at turning conversations into financial commitments.
• Comfortable working with high-net-worth individuals, CSR heads, and foundation leaders.
• Good with numbers, budgets, and using data to tell powerful stories.
