About the Project: Urban Heat
WRI’s Urban Heat Initiative supports cities to invest in cooling infrastructure like tree cover, reflective buildings, green infrastructure, and permeable materials. The initiative aims to:
- Close data gaps.
- Build decision-support tools.
- Scale data and tools deployment.
About the Role
As a Senior Project Associate, you will develop user-facing geospatial applications, data dashboards, and decision support tools to help cities address urban heat stress. You will work closely with the data, product, design, and engineering teams to create and deploy live applications.
Contract: 1 year
Location: Remote
Start Date: As soon as possible
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain geospatial data dashboards for Urban Heat projects and City Indicators.
- Collaborate with the Data Lab engineering team on architectural decisions (data storage, APIs, deployment).
- Deliver features based on design requirements and user research findings.
- Maintain developed applications and create tools to monitor their status.
Qualifications and Requirements
- 3+ years in backend development (Node.js, Typescript, Next.js).
- 3+ years in frontend development (JavaScript, HTML/CSS, React).
- API development using frameworks like FastAPI or comparable JavaScript frameworks (hapi, nestjs).
- GIS web application development (e.g., MapLibre, OpenLayers, Mapbox).
- Databases (SQL/PostgreSQL).
- Cloud services (AWS - ECS, Lambda, Amplify, S3).

Salary and Benefits
CTC: ₹11,00,000–₹13,00,000 per annum (commensurate with experience).
