Make A Difference
Make A Difference (MAD) is changing what it means to grow up disadvantaged in India, by unlocking the power of community-led transformation and igniting hope for thousands of children in need of care and protection. Founded with a bold vision—to end poverty in our lifetime—MAD doesn’t just provide charity; it builds leaders and nurtures resilient communities equipped to challenge inequality for good.
Role
You'll help power a movement that's rewriting the futures of 7,500 vulnerable children across 21 cities, by building relationships that last, designing strategies that work, and creating a fundraising engine that doesn't just survive, but scales.
Responsibilities
- Steward key HNI, CSR, and Foundation relationships through thoughtful engagement strategies, impact reports, donor touchpoints, and proactive problem-solving
- Acquire new funding partnerships through targeted research, tailored proposals, and thesis-led prospecting that converts cold leads into committed supporters
- Interpret programme and financial data to speak confidently about revenue, projections, cost-per-child, and conversion rates
- Build and refine internal fundraising systems (trackers, dashboards, cadences) to make fundraising predictable and process-driven
- Translate complex programme realities into clear, donor-friendly narratives that deepen commitment and expand partnerships
- Manage the full lifecycle of major donor relationships—from first conversation to renewal, expansion, and referral
- Design and track a robust pipeline that reduces founder dependency and spreads risk across diverse funding sources
Requirements
- 5–8 years of fundraising or key account management experience, preferably in the nonprofit or social impact space
- Proven track record of writing proposals that have won grants or major commitments
- Experience managing HNI, CSR, or Foundation relationships end-to-end (not just supporting someone else)
- Strong numerical fluency and comfort with revenue targets, runways, projections, and conversion metrics
- Strategic thinker who builds processes, spots patterns, and designs engagement journeys—not just executes tasks
- Diligent with follow-through; donors never have to chase you or wonder where things stand
- Proactive problem-solver comfortable with ambiguity and figuring things out without perfect inputs
- Strong communicator who writes clearly, speaks confidently with senior stakeholders, and translates complexity into simple language
- Team player with independent judgement—collaborative but doesn't need hand-holding
- Willingness to relocate to North Goa and work on-site (non-negotiable)
Bonus: Experience with Indian HNIs, large CSR programmes, or Foundations
Benefits
- Core-team role reporting directly to the Senior Director – Fundraising & Partnerships
- Build a fundraising function from the ground up, not inherit someone else's legacy
- Work that directly expands care for vulnerable children and supports systems-change
- Based in North Goa as an intentional choice to build something meaningful with focus
- Leadership team that values strategic thinking, pushes you, and gives you space to experiment
- Competitive compensation aligned to experience and sector benchmarks, with room to grow
Apply
Apply with the following.
1. Your CV.
2. A one-page (max 400 words) memo that answers the following:
○ Part 1: The Analysis: Find a recent Make A Difference (MAD) Impact Report, Annual
Report, or a similar public-facing document online. From the perspective of a potential
HNI deciding on a 1 Cr. investment, what is the single most compelling aspect of this
document?
○ Part 2: The Critique: What is the single biggest gap or missed opportunity in the
document for that same HNI audience?
○ Part 3: The Strategy: Briefly (in 1-2 sentences), how would you propose to bridge that
gap in your first 90 days?
Please note: Applications submitted without this one-page memo will not be considered. This task tests the diligence, critical thinking, and strategic mindset MAD is hiring for.
