Role
The Fundraising Manager will develop and execute a strategy to raise over $5 million annually. This involves managing relationships with a wide range of donors (CSR, government, foundations) and leading the entire grant application process.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a fundraising strategy to meet the $5M+ annual goal and find new funding sources.
- Build and manage relationships with philanthropic partners, including CSR teams, government bodies (India and international), international aid agencies, multilateral organizations (like the World Bank), private foundations, and high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs).
- Lead the grant lifecycle: write compelling proposals, concept notes, presentations, and detailed impact reports.
- Manage the fundraising pipeline, from initial contact to proposal submission and negotiation.
- Work with leadership, program, and research teams to understand project needs and communicate technical work to non-technical funders.
- Track trends in global philanthropy, CSR rules (especially in India), and donor priorities.
- Represent Wadhwani AI at conferences and networking events to build its profile and funding network.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Marketing, International Relations, Non-profit Management, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of experience in fundraising, business development, or partnerships.
- A strong track record of securing large institutional grants and corporate funding, ideally raising over $5 million annually.
- Deep knowledge of the philanthropic sector, including Indian CSR regulations (Section 135) and international/multilateral grant processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to write persuasive proposals.
- Strong skills in building relationships and negotiation.
- Strategic, results-focused, and able to work independently in a fast-paced setting.
- Experience in the "technology for social good" or development sector is a major advantage.
- Familiar with CRM software and other fundraising tools.
