Role

Karya is looking for a talented and experienced Grant Writer to play a vital role in securing funding for its programmes and initiatives. This role involves researching and applying for grants from foundations, corporations, and government agencies to support the organisation’s mission and impact.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough research to identify grant opportunities aligned with Karya’s mission and funding needs
  • Develop compelling grant proposals, narratives, and supporting documents that clearly communicate the organisation’s goals and programmes
  • Collaborate with programme staff to gather data and information to strengthen grant applications
  • Ensure all proposals meet specific guidelines and requirements of each funding source
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of grant opportunities, deadlines, and submission requirements
  • Build and maintain relationships with grant officers and programme officers at funding organisations
  • Monitor the status of grant applications, tracking deadlines and following up as needed
  • Assist in preparing grant reports to ensure timely and accurate reporting to funders
  • Stay updated on trends, best practices, and changes in the grant writing field

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in grant writing, preferably within the non-profit sector
  • Proven success in securing grants from diverse funding sources
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to craft compelling narratives
  • Strong research and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines reliably
  • Proficiency in Google Docs and Hubspot
  • Knowledge of the local and national grant landscape is preferred
