WWF-India
WWF-India, or the World Wide Fund for Nature – India, has been a key voice for conservation in the country for over five decades. It began its journey in 1969 in Mumbai as a small charitable trust, inspired by the global WWF movement. In those early years, its focus was simple but ambitious — to protect India’s incredible wildlife and natural heritage. By 1987, the organisation had adopted its current name, WWF-India, and expanded its vision to look at the bigger picture: how people and nature can live together in harmony.
Today, WWF-India works across the country, from dense forests and high mountains to coastal areas and urban landscapes. Its mission is to protect biodiversity, encourage the sustainable use of natural resources, and reduce the negative impact of human activity on the environment. This means not only safeguarding endangered species and critical habitats, but also influencing how businesses, communities, and governments think about and use resources.
WWF-India, one of the country’s leading conservation organisations, is seeking an experienced professional to lead its Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (PMEL) function. This is a senior leadership role, ideal for someone passionate about nature conservation and skilled in driving organisational impact measurement.
Role
Lead the organisation’s efforts in measuring and amplifying the impact of its conservation work across India’s most biodiversity-rich regions. Play a critical role in shaping strategies that protect nature and wildlife for generations to come.
Responsibilities
- Lead the rollout and effective operation of WWF-India’s PMEL system across programmes.
- Work with conservation teams and leadership to develop and communicate organisational impact.
- Ensure quality assurance in the design and development of conservation projects.
- Maintain robust data pipelines and clear team roles for consistent and timely data updates.
- Analyse PMEL data to generate insights and flag key issues for management.
- Drive the strategic planning and review process in close coordination with programme leadership.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in economics, management, data science, environmental science, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in programme development, institutional development, M&E, or strategy and change management.
- Strong knowledge of M&E systems and project development in the non-profit sector.
- Proven leadership, analytical, and strategic thinking skills.
- Demonstrated passion for environmental conservation.
