Role
The Head of Finance will be a strategic and execution-focused leader with extensive experience in both accounting and strategic finance. You will be responsible for guiding the organization's finances from a strategic and operational perspective.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic insights and develop reporting and forecasting frameworks to support effective decision-making.
- Design and manage systems to ensure compliance with all statutory regulations (TDS, GST, FCRA, 80G, 12A, etc.).
- Evaluate existing financial operations and systems to identify opportunities for process optimization.
- Build capacity within the finance function by assessing the current team, identifying gaps, and providing strategic and operational guidance.
- Partner with leadership to develop financial policies and internal controls.
- Lead financial planning and analysis (FP&A) to support data-driven decision-making.
- Oversee grants management, including tracking restricted funding and donor reporting.
- Support donor proposals and engage with advisory boards and board members.
Requirements
- Minimum of 15 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in a strategic leadership role.
- Experience in mid-sized organizations (50+ employees) is preferred.
- Familiarity with the social sector is a plus.
- Strong understanding of financial operations, strategy, compliance, and risk management.
- Experience in building and leading financial teams.
- Familiarity with financial software systems.
- A learning and adaptive mindset with strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- Belief in technology as a powerful tool for enabling positive change.
- Approachable with a good attitude and empathy toward social sector work.
