The organisation strengthens policy, strategy, and on-ground implementation through research-driven programmes. In the Northeast region, iFOREST has supported renewable energy assessments, climate strategy development, and institutional strengthening for adaptation and mitigation.

Role

The Head of Human Resources leads the overall people function for the organisation, managing recruitment, talent development, and organisational culture. This senior role partners with the CEO to align HR strategies with the institution's growth and mission, ensuring a high-performing and engaged workforce across multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the HR function and develop people strategies that align with the organisation's growth and values.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to the CEO and senior leadership on all matters related to human capital.
  • Manage workforce planning and lead recruitment efforts for senior leadership, research, and support roles.
  • Design and oversee onboarding and induction processes for all new hires.
  • Develop and update HR policies, manuals, and standard operating procedures to ensure equitable practices.
  • Implement and manage performance appraisal systems, promotion frameworks, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Oversee employee relations, including grievance redressal and conflict resolution.
  • Manage institutional documentation, including leaves, attendance, benefits, and HR information systems.
  • Drive learning, development, and capacity-building initiatives for staff across the organisation.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources Management.
  • At least 10 to 15 years of progressive HR experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a leadership position.
  • Prior experience working within non-profit organisations, think tanks, or consulting firms.
  • Proven ability to build HR systems and processes within a growing or startup-like environment.
  • Strong understanding of statutory compliance and end-to-end HR operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in managing HR records and MIS for institutional reporting.
