IDR publishes cutting-edge ideas, lessons and insights written by and for the people working on India's toughest problems. Every weekday brings fresh perspectives from grassroots workers to policy experts, all shared freely without paywalls. Role

Join IDR as we scale our impact across India's development landscape. This senior role offers the chance to shape marketing strategy for Asia's largest independent social impact platform, reaching millions while building meaningful connections with changemakers nationwide.

Responsibilities

  • Build and execute comprehensive marketing strategy with digital emphasis for IDR's multi-million audience
  • Develop and lead campaigns across digital, offline partnerships, print, and brand-building activities
  • Manage complete digital marketing lifecycle: planning, execution, measurement, and optimisation across channels
  • Track and analyse performance metrics, drawing insights to refine strategic approach
  • Lead, mentor, and grow high-performance marketing team
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with editorial, partnerships, product, and leadership teams
  • Oversee brand positioning, narrative development, and messaging consistency across touchpoints
  • Manage marketing budgets efficiently, ensuring ROI and resource optimisation
  • Drive campaigns including launches, thought-leadership initiatives, partnerships, and events
  • Build and manage relationships with external agencies, vendors, and media partners
  • Ensure alignment with IDR's values of integrity, excellence, and community focus

Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years relevant marketing experience, with 5+ years in leadership roles
  • Proven track record designing and executing multi-channel marketing strategies with tangible results
  • Strong strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and resource-allocation expertise
  • Versatility across marketing domains—digital, traditional, brand, events—not limited to one channel
  • Excellent leadership and team-management experience with ability to nurture talent
  • Superior communication skills, verbal and written, with ability to influence at senior levels
  • Strong analytical capability and comfort with metrics, dashboards, and performance evaluation
  • Flexibility and adaptability in values-driven nonprofit environment
