The Centre for Law and Policy Research is a not-for-profit organisation working to make the Constitution accessible through research, advocacy, governance interventions, and strategic litigation. CLPR focuses on issues of discrimination at the intersections of caste, gender, disability, and minority identities, strengthening rights-based action and social justice.
Role
CLPR is hiring a Human Resources and Administrative Officer to oversee recruitment, employee support, HR policy implementation, and organisational administration. The role includes managing HR processes end-to-end, supervising office assistants, and ensuring effective daily administration. The position reports to the Director of Operations.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate and implement all phases of the recruitment process including drafting JDs, posting vacancies, sourcing, screening, and coordinating interviews and offers.
- Coordinate hiring and onboarding processes, salary recommendations, and start-date finalisation.
- Maintain employee records, contracts, leave databases, and HR documentation.
- Implement HR policies, draft contracts for staff, consultants, and volunteers, and guide employees on policy details.
- Oversee employee benefits including medical insurance, claims, and approvals.
- Manage appraisal cycles and support performance review processes.
- Compile HR data for payroll and coordinate with the finance team.
- Handle staff welfare, legal compliance, disciplinary matters, and grievance management.
- Manage exit formalities including asset handover and communication.
- Provide employment-related documentation for staff as needed.
- Supervise office assistants and ensure smooth daily office administration.
- Oversee office operations including organisation, upkeep, facilities management, and security.
- Manage procurement of office supplies and vendor relations.
- Coordinate meetings, travel arrangements, events, and office functions.
- Support basic finance and record-keeping tasks in coordination with finance teams.
- Maintain office equipment and liaise with service providers.
- Report on administrative operations and identify improvements in systems and processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with minimum 60% aggregate marks.
- Master’s degree or PG Diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related fields preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of HR experience with additional responsibilities in office administration or supervisory roles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to independently manage end-to-end hiring processes.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in HRMS and applicant tracking systems.
- Good knowledge of MS Office Suite.
- Ability to multitask, prioritise, and work well under pressure.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and supervise administrative staff effectively.
