Role

WRI India’s Energy Program is seeking two interns to support work related to electricity utilities, with a focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) disclosures for distribution utilities. The interns will assist in research, data analysis, documentation, and coordination efforts that advance equitable energy transitions and clean energy adoption. The internship is for a period of 5 months.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct background research and literature reviews on ESG disclosure practices in the electricity and infrastructure sectors.
  • Assist in developing and refining ESG reporting frameworks suited to the utility sector.
  • Review publicly available reports, regulatory orders, and policies related to electricity distribution companies.
  • Compile case studies showcasing good practices and innovations under ESG themes.
  • Support research on energy transition policies, clean energy implementation, and electricity sector reforms.
  • Engage with project partners, utilities, and experts for communications, meetings, and field visits.
  • Collect, clean, and organise quantitative and qualitative data relevant to ESG indicators.
  • Support drafting of working documents, briefs, and presentation materials.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled or recently completed a Master’s program in energy systems, sustainability, public policy, economics, environmental studies, or related fields.
  • Understanding of India’s power sector, especially electricity distribution and clean energy transition.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Prior experience with sustainability reporting, ESG frameworks, or regulatory filings is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel to project locations if required.
