eGovernments Foundation works to improve governance through technology, empowering cities and states with open-source tools and platforms. The 10BedICU Project is an initiative to enhance ICU capacity in district hospitals, enabling better healthcare delivery in underserved areas.
About the Role
The IT Field Engineer will play a critical role in implementing and maintaining IT infrastructure for the 10BedICU project across hospitals in Karnataka.
Kannada language proficiency is mandatory.
Contract Duration: 1 year (initially).
Location: Bangalore, Karnataka
Responsibilities
- Set up and debug local networks at spoke hospitals.
- Collaborate with remote teams to resolve technical issues at spokes.
- Update and upgrade servers at spokes.
- Configure and manage network devices.
- Troubleshoot internet issues at 10BedICU sites.
- Manage nginx and docker containers at multiple locations.
- Set up and manage remote access tunnels using Cloudflare.
- Run tests to ensure smooth functioning of hardware/software.
- Assist in training hospital staff to use the software.
- Track and record equipment maintenance at hubs and spokes.
- Support doctors, nurses, and lab technicians in using ICU management tools for teleconsultations.
Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering/Technology/Science with specialization in IT/Computer Science or a related field.
- 0–3 years of experience (freshers may apply).
Required Skills
- Basic knowledge of Linux and Windows systems.
- Ability to install and update Linux packages.
- Familiarity with remote desktop management.
- Understanding of IP addresses and basic Wi-Fi router configuration.
- Comfort with the command-line interface.
- Knowledge of the network request cycle, DNS, and public IPs.
- Familiarity with configuring nginx (desirable).
- Understanding of docker and docker compose (desirable).
- Strong learning attitude and adaptability to new technologies.
- Good communication skills and team spirit.
- Willingness to travel extensively within Karnataka to project sites (district hospitals).
