Established in 2006, Lend A Hand India is a non-profit organization focused on transforming education by integrating vocational learning with mainstream secondary and higher secondary schooling (grades 9-12). The core mission is to make education relevant to real-world livelihoods, equipping students with practical skills, an entrepreneurial mindset, and the confidence to succeed in their future careers.
Lend A Hand India's primary approach is to drive systemic change through deep collaboration with government bodies. Acting as a key technical support partner to state governments, they help design, implement, and scale up skill education programs under national frameworks like 'Samagra Shiksha'. Instead of running parallel systems, their team of over 250 professionals is often embedded within state education departments, providing crucial support in policy formulation, program management, and quality assurance.
Their on-the-ground work is comprehensive. It involves designing curricula for various skills, setting up state-of-the-art labs and workshops within schools, and recruiting and training a network of qualified vocational trainers. A key focus is on creating strong linkages between education and industry. Lend A Hand India facilitates guest lectures from industry experts, organizes industrial visits, and secures internships and on-the-job training opportunities for students, ensuring they receive valuable practical experience.
This model has allowed Lend A Hand India to achieve significant scale and impact. Their programs are active in over 20 states and union territories, reaching more than 1.5 million students across a network of over 15,000 schools. Their vision is to build a future where every young person graduates with the skills and knowledge needed to secure meaningful employment or start their own ventures, contributing to a more skilled and prosperous India.
