Role

The Manager of Celebrity and Public Relations plays a vital role in amplifying animal rights campaigns by bridging the gap between the organization and the media. You will lead projects that involve influential public figures to bring national attention to animal welfare issues.

Responsibilities

  • Pitch campaigns and events to media outlets and handle follow-up communications.
  • Enlist celebrity support for initiatives and manage these partnerships from start to finish, including photo shoots.
  • Develop strategies and target lists to secure widespread media coverage for PETA’s work.
  • Build and maintain extensive contact databases for media and celebrity networks.
  • Collaborate with international PETA affiliates on print and video public service announcements.
  • Mentor and lead the local team, providing strategic direction and ensuring project deadlines are met.
  • Act as a media spokesperson on animal rights issues when required.
  • Organize and maintain all project files, inventories, and news clippings.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in PR or a related communications field.
  • Educational background in Communications, Public Relations, or Journalism is preferred.
  • Fluency in English and Hindi is essential; knowledge of other Indian languages is a plus.
  • Strong technical skills in using the internet for research and managing digital databases.
  • Deep understanding of animal rights issues and a passion for the cause.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional telephone manner.
  • High level of organizational skill, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for shoots or events.
  • Strong leadership and networking skills to build relationships with media professionals.
