By creating Digital Public Goods like Glific (a two-way communication platform) and Dalgo (a data platform), they ensure that technology is accessible, open, and designed specifically for the development sector. They operate with an agile, user-focused methodology to solve complex problems for the social sector.
Role
You will lead the technical architecture for SaaS platforms like Glific and Dalgo, balancing high-level strategy with hands-on coding. Beyond building software, you will act as a fractional CxO for partner NGOs, guiding their technical and data strategies to solve real-world social problems.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical vision and architecture for SaaS platforms to ensure they can scale reliably.
- Write code and design systems hands-on to help the team deliver features quickly.
- Modernize the platform with a focus on multi-tenancy, observability, and better performance.
- Mentor the engineering team to foster strong design, coding, and review habits.
- Manage operational excellence, including uptime, monitoring, and infrastructure automation.
- Integrate AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and third-party services into the core platform experience.
- Work directly with NGOs as a fractional CxO to design their tech and data strategies.
- Collaborate with Product Managers and partners to translate strategic goals into a clear technical roadmap.
Requirements
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a principal or architect role.
- Proficiency in Elixir, Phoenix, Python, or similar frameworks.
- Proven experience in scaling SaaS or large distributed systems.
- Experience managing cloud infrastructure, databases, and security for production systems.
- Deep understanding of API integrations and data systems with a focus on automation.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfortable working in an agile environment and navigating ambiguous technical challenges.
