Slam Out Loud
What happens when poetry meets the classroom? Slam Out Loud (SOL) is finding out. This organisation uses storytelling, visual arts, and theatre to build Creative Confidence in children from under-resourced communities whilst exploring social justice themes like climate and gender. Their Jijivisha Fellowship places artists directly in classrooms across Delhi, Pune, Mumbai, and Bangalore, with 75% of children showing measurable growth in socio-emotional learning skills. Meanwhile, their Arts for All program partners with state governments in Punjab and Maharashtra to train teachers on arts-based learning. Since 2017, SOL has reached 3,00,000 children in person and touched 10.5 million lives digitally.
Role
Our Program Associate is responsible for bringing our programs alive in the field. They facilitate training sessions, coach the arts facilitators/teachers, plan logistics, and manage partnerships with different stakeholders to help reach our goal of enabling social and emotional learning skills in children through teacher-led programs in all districts of Punjab.
Full-time, contractual position for 9 months.
Responsibilities
Program Management and Implementation:
- Managing daily operations for the Arts for All program that works with government school teachers to train them on art-based SEL facilitation skills
- Establish and maintain effective partnerships with SCERT Punjab, resource people, teachers, principals, local education offices, and other local organisations
- Designing and facilitating teacher training and being a front-runner in managing all end-to-end operations for program success
- Conduct periodical site visits and classroom observations to collect first-hand data to inform program strategy and inputs
- Holding one-on-one conversations with teachers and resource people monthly
- Assist in gathering feedback and working on mechanisms to keep our program running continuously and effectively
- Supporting curriculum and assessment development by collecting insights on implementation from training and teachers' feedback
- Carrying out tasks related to impact measurement and partnership communications with our major donors and government stakeholders
- Support in preparing reports and presentations
Reporting and Collaboration:
- Report directly to the Senior Manager - Punjab to achieve program objectives, identify gaps, and implement solutions
Requirements
Mindsets, skills, and knowledge:
- Highly organised, can create workflows, design strategies, keeping program roadmaps in mind and successfully execute them
- Ability to conceptualise and implement high-quality events and workshops, including facilitating 2-day teacher training sessions
- Reflective problem solver, adept at identifying and addressing challenges creatively
- Great at building relationships and can read and understand people's emotions well
- Ability to look at situations from multiple lenses and break down structures into components while keeping an eye on details
- Ability to carry out classroom observations and present findings effectively
- Fluency in Hindi and English is required, with proficiency in Punjabi
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (G Suite) and MS Office applications

Education and experience:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in education, fellowships, program management, social work, government relations and other relevant fields
- Experience with any of the arts, having worked with children and government relations would be preferable
