Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI)
The Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) is a global partnership of national governments, UN agencies, development banks, the private sector, and knowledge institutions. Its mission is to support countries in upgrading their systems to ensure disaster and climate resilience of new and existing infrastructure. CDRI aims for over US$10 trillion of new and existing infrastructure investments and services to be resilient to natural hazards and climate change by 2050, improving the lives and livelihoods of over 3 billion people. CDRI functions as a strong coalition for collaborative action and a solution-focused Centre of Excellence for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (DRI), aggregating knowledge, brokering partnerships, and strengthening capacities of its members.
Role
You will support the design, implementation, and monitoring of studies and provide technical support for projects, including disaster response, recovery, innovation, and capacity-building assistance.
Responsibilities
- Support the development of strategies for technical assistance and cooperation for the respective domain/sectoral initiative.
- Actively participate in programming, network activities, capacity development, and knowledge sharing.
- Support the identification, preparation, appraisal, and documentation of projects/technical assistance to CDRI member countries.
- Lead the monitoring, periodic review, and progress reporting of project/program implementation, ensuring compliance with workplans and budgets.
- Ensure quality and consistency of reports, project documents, and communications related to projects/programmes.
- Support the development and delivery of the assistance project/program pipeline.
- Create and maintain detailed activity workplans and budgets for the programme, and contribute to planning, budgeting, and reporting.
- Support the Lead - Programmes in stakeholder management and overall programme coordination.
- Support task force, fact-finding, and appraisal missions, including review of project/program designs and liaison with government officials.
- Provide administrative and substantive support to consultative meetings, conferences, etc.
- Help organize, contribute to, support, and participate in meetings, conferences, seminars, and workshops.
- Coordinate and support other CDRI teams/programmes for managing consultants, contracts, and inputs for various institutional development activities.
- Perform other duties related to CDRI, as assigned.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Infrastructure Planning, Transport Planning/Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Applied Sciences, Actuarial Sciences, or Economics.
- 8-10 years of experience in a relevant position at the national or international level.
- Experience of working in an international organization and with a diverse number of partners (Governments, UN, multi-lateral systems, industry, financial institutions) in multi-country locations.
- Expertise in one or more of the following domains: Critical Infrastructure (Power, Telecommunications, Transport).
- Experience working with organizations in the critical infrastructure sector and power, telecom, and transport.
- Experience in structuring and developing technical documents and proposals on disaster and climate-resilient infrastructure.
- Proven experience in strategizing, developing, and implementing projects for international organizations in developing countries' public or private sectors.
- Experience in contributing to proposals, cost estimations, and scope of work.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, research, and technical writing skills in English.
- Past track-record/ability to work independently, deliver timely and quality products.
- Computer proficiency, especially related to project management software and Microsoft Office, with experience in data analysis, big data, and GIS data being a plus.
- Skills in project development, implementation, and management.
- Knowledge of disaster risk reduction and climate change concepts and frameworks, and familiarity with international frameworks like the SDGs, SFDRR, and the Paris Agreement.
