Role

The Program Officer works within the Collaboration and Partnership domain. The purpose of this role is to identify and research social protection schemes from the government and ensure these benefits reach women and children in urban communities. You will act as a bridge between government policies and the people who need them most.

Responsibilities

• Research and gather updated information on State and Union government social protection schemes for vulnerable urban communities.
• Translate complex government guidelines into simple summaries in Hindi and Marathi for community use.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with local government officials and ministry departments.
• Train internal program teams and community volunteers on how these schemes work and how to apply for them.
• Support the Coordinator in connecting community members with other NGOs and civil society organizations.
• Collect and analyze data on how many people are accessing these schemes and identify any barriers they face.
• Document success stories, case studies, and challenges to help improve future outreach.
• Provide direct guidance to teams to troubleshoot problems when community members face hurdles in accessing services.

Requirements

• Graduate degree, preferably in Social Work.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in community liaison or public authority engagement.
• Fluent in spoken and written Marathi and Hindi; functional competency in English is required.
• Strong documentation skills with the ability to review policies and draft clear reports.
• Technical skills in data collection, basic computer usage, and reporting.
• Strong soft skills including empathy, problem-solving, and the ability to work within established systems and procedures.
• A methodical and disciplined approach to work with a constant willingness to learn.
