Durga
Durga is a citizen-led movement dedicated to reclaiming public spaces and making them safer and more inclusive for everyone, especially women and girls. Since 2013, as an initiative of I’m Every Woman Trust, Durga has worked across government, education, and grassroots communities to challenge gender-based violence and shift social norms. With over 36,000 people reached and nearly 6,000 active bystanders nurtured, Durga believes real change happens when people come together—using their voices, actions, and collective ownership to transform public spaces.

At Durga, the work goes beyond awareness. The team runs interactive programs that empower women and girls to speak up and claim their right to public spaces, while also engaging boys and men as allies for gender justice. Durga’s approach is rooted in community mobilization, education, and building a culture where everyone feels responsible for safety and equity.
