Role

The Programme Manager – MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning) will lead the technical efforts to measure and improve Peepul’s impact. This role is about using data and research to see what is working in classrooms and using those insights to help the organization make better decisions and share its success with the wider education sector.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of frameworks to track and measure how well programs are performing.
• Design and implement tools to assess student learning and improve classroom results.
• Build and manage systems for high-quality data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Oversee research studies to find deep insights that can guide the organization's future strategy.
• Build strong relationships with government partners, funders, and research experts.
• Create high-quality reports and evidence products to share impact data with stakeholders.
• Manage and mentor the MEL team members across different locations.
• Help create a "learning culture" where the whole organization uses data to reflect and improve.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or higher in Education, Economics, Statistics, Public Policy, or Development Studies.
• 10+ years of total experience in MEL or research, preferably within the education sector.
• Proven experience in designing assessments to measure student learning outcomes.
• Strong skills in both quantitative (numbers-based) and qualitative (interview/observation-based) research.
• Experience working directly with government education systems in India.
• Technical proficiency in data management and reporting tools (experience with Alteryx or PowerBI is a plus).
• Excellent communication skills in English and Hindi to synthesize complex data into simple insights.
• Ability to lead and coach team members while balancing academic rigor with practical field reality.
