About the Role

The Project Lead will oversee engineering projects, ensuring their successful delivery while collaborating with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up and managing delivery processes, leading teams, and ensuring the smooth execution of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

This role is dedicated to leading the product development team for large-scale DIGIT products worldwide. The goal is to ensure the success of the DIGIT platform, which enables accessible, efficient, and transparent service delivery in crucial areas such as health, urban development, sanitation, and public finance management.

Responsibilities

Lead engineering projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
Develop project plans, timelines, and resource allocations.
Facilitate planning meetings and publish release plans in coordination with Platform, Product, Program, and Solution Engineering teams.
Serve as the central point of contact for all assigned delivery tracks, tracking progress, identifying risks, and implementing mitigation plans.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to track and resolve dependencies, ensuring timely delivery.
Maintain transparent communication with stakeholders and foster team collaboration.
Establish engineering delivery processes and guidelines to drive successful project outcomes.
Provide thought leadership across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including system analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment.
Advocate for development best practices while leading and managing the development team.
Conduct regular change management sessions to address technology updates, collaborating with Architects, Tech Leads, and Managers.

Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor's degree in any field, with IT experience.
6-8 years of total IT experience, with exposure to web/mobile application technologies.
Proven ability to lead multiple software/technology projects across locations.
Familiarity with at least one project management tool (preferably open-source tools like JIRA, Asana, Trello, or Microsoft Project). Experience with GIT, Gitbook, and Excel is a plus.
Strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership.
Comfortable in a small-organization setting where teamwork and resourcefulness are valued.
Ability to work independently and proactively with minimal supervision.
Experience in urban governance, the public sector, development sector, or consulting is an added advantage.
Proficiency in English (written and verbal).
Experience with Java and open-source technologies is a plus.
Strong ability to synthesize information from different teams and consolidate it effectively.
Experience in leading teams for end-to-end development and implementation.
