Role
This is a high-impact leadership role within a Program Management Unit (PMU) embedded in the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). You will act as a strategic liaison to ensure a smooth, multi-year transition of India’s polio and disease surveillance network into the government’s fold, maintaining world-class standards for health security.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and execution of multi-year strategies to streamline vaccine-preventable disease (VPD) surveillance.
- Coordinate the transition of surveillance functions from international networks to the national government framework.
- Manage a technical team of experts to ensure all program work is grounded in scientific evidence and global protocols.
- Facilitate high-level relationships between government officials, donors, and non-governmental partners.
- Monitor program performance using structured tools and Gantt charts to ensure timely achievement of milestones.
- Guide capacity-building initiatives and training for state and national health units.
- Develop comprehensive reports and presentations for senior leadership to influence policy and implementation.
Requirements
- MBBS with an MD or a post-graduate degree in Public Health, Community Medicine, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in results-oriented public health leadership roles.
- Proven expertise in infectious disease or VPD surveillance at a national or state level.
- Exceptional written and oral skills for engaging with senior government and donor officials.
- Strong analytical ability to handle complex data and translate it into policy decisions; proficiency in program management tools.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, ability to navigate multi-stakeholder environments, and strong team leadership capabilities.
