Centre for Law and Policy Research

The Centre for Law and Policy Research is a not-for-profit organisation working to advance constitutional rights through research, advocacy, governance interventions, and strategic litigation. CLPR focuses on addressing discrimination at the intersections of caste, gender, disability, and minority rights through evidence-based legal and policy engagement.

Role

CLPR is hiring a Research Associate to undertake legal research, support litigation and advocacy initiatives, contribute to public-facing outputs, and assist in project-related administrative work. The position reports to the Executive Director and Senior Research Associates.

Responsibilities

  • Compile, organise, and analyse legal materials including case law, legislation, and policy documents.
  • Conduct doctrinal, comparative, and empirical research on constitutional rights and social justice issues.
  • Draft reports, academic papers, policy briefs, and blog posts.
  • Support workshops, consultations, and public events.
  • Assist in project management including timelines, documentation, and reporting.
  • Contribute to website content, newsletters, and social media outreach.
  • Coordinate with academics, civil society, and government officials.
  • Undertake allied administrative responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law with strong academic credentials.
  • Postgraduate degree in Law, Public Policy, or related fields is desirable.
  • 0–3 years of experience in legal research, litigation, or policy advocacy.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to write clearly and persuasively for diverse audiences.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks within deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with MS Office and online research tools.
  • Experience in Dalit and Adivasi rights, gender justice, disability rights, or minority rights is an advantage.
  • Commitment to rights-based research and social justice.
