Role
Girl Rising is looking for a Research Manager to lead monitoring, evaluation and learning efforts across their global programs. This role will involve designing and conducting research, managing data systems, and building the organisation's capacity for evidence-based programming.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and conduct primary and secondary research and program evaluation activities across Girl Rising programs
- Design and execute research projects, including developing appropriate research designs, data collection strategies, surveys and focus group protocols
- Apply advanced qualitative and quantitative research methods to analyse data and develop accessible written reports and summaries
- Work with program teams and the system administrator to manage and upgrade the internal Salesforce-based database
- Identify program outcomes to track over time and devise mechanisms to collect meaningful data beyond reach numbers
- Review data for reliability and integrity; generate dashboards for reports, presentations and grant applications
- Ensure timely quarterly reporting in collaboration with program leads
- Stay current on research and evidence that informs Girl Rising's work; maintain the in-house research directory and share findings across education and gender networks
- Support proposal development with insights and recommendations based on research and data analysis
- Advise on monitoring, evaluation and learning strategies, frameworks and indicators to capture project performance
Requirements
- Postgraduate research degree in Economics, Public Policy, Education Policy or related field with strong quantitative grounding
- 3 to 5 years of experience conducting social development research and managing program data at nonprofits, preferably in education and gender
- Experience managing database systems; knowledge of Salesforce is a plus
- Experience conducting literature reviews, creating questionnaires and implementing surveys in collaboration with partners
- Proficiency in quantitative research and at least one data analysis software (STATA, R, etc.)
- Fluency in English
- Ability to work independently and collaborate well with staff in different locations
- Experience cleaning, analysing and presenting data visually and in writing to diverse stakeholders (preferred)
- Experience synthesising research findings for practitioner and policy-oriented outputs like briefs and blogs (preferred)
- Experience in qualitative research and data analysis (preferred)
