Bhumi
Bhumi is one of India’s largest independent youth volunteer non-profit organisations, founded in 2006 by a group of passionate friends who believed in the transformative power of education for all children. The organisation’s core mission is to build a more equal and socially conscious society by empowering young people to learn, lead, and thrive. Bhumi’s flagship initiatives include Ignite, a supplementary education programme for underprivileged children, and Catalyse, which mobilises volunteers for civic and environmental causes. Through the Bhumi Fellowship, the organisation nurtures future leaders in education, placing fellows in government and low-income schools to support holistic school transformation.
Bhumi’s impact is significant—over 2,00,000 volunteers engaged and more than 1,50,000 children and youth impacted. The organisation is recognised for its culture of ownership, collaboration, and nurturing care, and has received accolades such as the “Leader in Volunteer Engagement Award”. At Bhumi, volunteering is not just about giving back; it’s about shaping a brighter future for India, one child and one community at a time.
