Role

Do you believe that powerful communication can inspire action for a better planet? WRI India is searching for a Senior Communications Associate to energise its Food, Land and Water Program in New Delhi. If you enjoy translating complex environmental issues into engaging stories, building connections with diverse audiences, and amplifying the impact of vital research, this role offers you the chance to make your mark at the heart of sustainability work. This is a one-year position (extendable based on performance and project requirements).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute communication strategies in line with project requirements, working closely with both the program and core communications teams.
  • Manage communications for events, roundtables, workshops, and virtual engagements to foster strategic partnerships and build awareness.
  • Lead the dissemination of research, blogs, stories, infographics, and other communication products across various channels and events.
  • Oversee the creation of videos, blogs, stories from the field, infographics, and other materials as part of the program’s strategy.
  • Design and manage digital content for the program’s web assets and/or microsite.
  • Provide proofreading and editing support to ensure high-quality communications products.
  • Track, evaluate, and report on the success metrics of communication and engagement activities, including social media, blogs, and YouTube videos.
  • Develop and maintain outreach strategies for key events, research launches, and media products.
  • Create content for social media platforms such as Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram.
  • Support the development of stakeholder engagement plans in coordination with the program team.
  • Assist the team to plan and execute both in-person and online events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in development communication, data journalism, or a related field, with a focus on environmental issues.
  • 5–7 years of full-time work experience in communications.
  • Proven experience in communicating on social, environmental, food, landscape restoration, and climate change issues for diverse audiences.
  • Skilled in developing communication campaigns, videos, stories, infographics, newsletters, brochures, and reports.
  • Experience in media outreach and preparing speakers/interviewees is preferred.
  • Proficiency with design software (PowerPoint, Canva, Adobe InDesign) and email marketing tools (Pardot, Mailchimp).
  • Experience working with external vendors for communication product development.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Experience in influence strategies and audience targeting is an advantage.
