Position: Senior Director, Product Optimization
Job Type: Full-time
Job Location: Netherlands (Amsterdam) + 12 more locations
Reports To: Chief Product Officer (CPO)

Job Brief:

The Senior Director, Product Optimization will serve as the second-in-command to the Chief Product Officer (CPO), supporting the leadership team of the Product Business Unit (BU). This role involves strategic execution, cross-functional coordination, external representation, and performance monitoring across the Rainforest Alliance’s certification programs and product portfolio. The Senior Director will align strategic priorities with execution, ensure cross-departmental collaboration, and drive operational excellence.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Implementation & Management

• Lead execution of the product portfolio strategy in alignment with Rainforest Alliance’s vision.
• Ensure seamless coordination between the Product BU and Strategy function.
• Identify and resolve operational inefficiencies to accelerate execution.
• Drive continuous assessment of product portfolio performance.

2. Cross-Functional Coordination

• Oversee collaboration between six product-related departments: Product Design, Product Development, Assurance, Data Management & Intelligence, Field Implementation, and Customer Care.
• Remove roadblocks and enable department heads to execute effectively.
• Influence without direct authority, ensuring alignment between directors and organizational goals.
• Facilitate decision-making processes and resolve conflicts between departments.

3. Performance Monitoring & Reporting

• Track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the product portfolio.
• Provide data-driven insights and reports to the Chief Product Officer.

4. External Representation

• Represent Rainforest Alliance’s product execution to external stakeholders, including partners, clients, and industry players.
• Identify and establish strategic partnerships for market growth and sustainability.

5. Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with the Chief Strategy Officer for seamless strategy alignment.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders to integrate product development, marketing, and sales efforts.
• Provide regular strategic updates to the Chief Product Officer.
• Partner with Communications, Marketing, Finance, and Development teams for smooth implementation of initiatives.

Qualifications and Required Skills:

• Education: Master’s degree (MBA preferred).
• Experience:
  • 15+ years in product leadership, strategy execution, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Experience in consulting, corporate strategy, or program/project management is highly desirable.
  • Strong background in product optimization and operational excellence.
• Skills:
  • Excellent strategic, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proven leadership in complex, multi-functional product projects.
  • Strong business acumen with a results-driven mindset.
  • Experience in external representation and industry engagement.
  • Fluency in English (additional languages are a plus).
  • Ability to travel 20% per year internationally.

Salary & Employment Details

Salary Range (for USA-based candidates only):

• National Salary (Excluding NY & DC): $105,321 – $150,458
• New York Salary Range: $114,706 – $163,865
• Washington DC Salary Range: $112,693 – $160,990
