Location: Remote (with quarterly travel)
Experience: 6+ years in software engineering, including 2+ years in a senior or lead role.
Compensation: ₹1,50,000 – ₹2,25,000 /month
Role
The Senior Engineer (SDE 3) acts as a technical leader who builds essential software solutions for NGOs. You will work closely with our leadership team to turn social impact goals into working technology, ensuring that the tools we build are reliable, scalable, and easy for non-profits to use.
Responsibilities
- Plan and carry out the technology and data strategy for NGOs, acting as a senior tech leader (CxO level).
- Work closely with the fractional CxO team to find practical solutions to problems that NGOs commonly face.
- Lead the technical direction for NGO applications, making sure they are built to grow, stay reliable, and can be updated easily over time.
- Work with Product Managers, NGOs, and partners to turn big-picture goals into a clear, step-by-step technical plan.
- Guide and support the engineering team and other fractional CxOs by encouraging good practices in design, coding, and code review.
- Push the team to keep systems running smoothly by focusing on uptime, monitoring, alerts, automation, and improving how code is tested and released.
- Represent the organization at workshops and webinars to share technical knowledge.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- At least 2+ years in an SDE 3 or similar senior-level position.
- Strong skills in backend systems and architecture using NodeJS, Python, or similar frameworks.
- Proven experience with cloud infrastructure, databases, and API integrations.
- Ability to lead and mentor a team while communicating clearly with non-technical partners.
- A proactive, hands-on mindset to solve problems in evolving environments.
- Educational background in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in social impact, civic-tech, or using AI in development is preferred.
