Role
This role leads a small finance team, overseeing all financial functions of the organisation. You will manage everything from strategic financial planning and compliance to risk management, ensuring the organisation's mission is well supported financially.
Responsibilities
- Lead the annual and quarterly budgeting and financial planning process.
- Align the organisation's financial strategy with its program and fundraising goals.
- Develop and manage cash flow to ensure the organisation has enough funds to operate.
- Oversee accounting, audits, and compliance with all relevant laws (Companies Act, FCRA, Income Tax, CSR).
- Strengthen internal financial controls, policies, and processes.
- Ensure timely and high quality financial reporting to donors and government bodies.
- Create monthly management reports with analysis on spending and financial trends.
- Work with program heads to improve cost efficiency and make informed decisions.
- Identify financial risks and create plans to address them.
- Manage and mentor the finance team, helping them grow their skills.
- Promote the use of technology to improve finance operations.
Requirements
- A qualified CA, ICWA, or MBA in Finance with at least 8 years of relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of finance in the non profit sector, especially FCRA, CSR funding, and donor compliance.
- Expertise in financial modelling, cash flow management, and preparing for audits.
- Proven ability to manage a team and build their capacity.
- Skilled in analysing financial data, managing costs, and identifying risks.
- Comfortable using accounting software and other financial technology tools.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with different teams.
