Teach For India
Teach For India is working towards an India free of poverty and filled with love by ending educational inequity. Fifteen years into the journey, the movement now has 5,000+ Alumni working at every level of the education system, reaching 1 in 10 children across the country. Around 1,000 Fellows teach in under-resourced classrooms every year, putting nearly 33,500 low-income children on a different life path. As of November 2024, over 16,000 Teach For India students have appeared for the 10th grade board exams, with a 95% pass rate across cities. The organization is now in Phase 4, a ten-year plan to grow 50,000 leaders who will transform the lives of 1 in 10 low-income children, advocate for educational equity, and engage 3.5% of the population in the movement.
Role
The Senior Manager, Alumni Impact will help Teach For India Alumni drive systems-level change in education across the country. The role leads complex initiatives, builds a strong team culture, manages large budgets, and tracks measurable progress toward long-term impact.
Responsibilities
- Set the strategic direction of the Alumni Impact vertical, plan each year clearly, and identify high-leverage points in the education ecosystem to grow Alumni influence at scale.
- Lead the work with 120+ Alumni Multipliers and support their leadership development through strategic initiatives.
- Design and run Alumni programs and learning experiences end-to-end, creating repeatable formats focused on peer learning, collaboration, and leadership.
- Build monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems that track progress, meet quality benchmarks like NPS and engagement, and guide continuous improvement.
- Lead, mentor, and coach a multi-city team to ambitious outcomes, with clear roles, strong ownership, and a culture of trust and accountability.
- Drive team engagement, growth, and retention, and build a strong talent pipeline for the future.
- Own and manage a ₹50+ lakh annual budget with strong financial discipline.
- Collaborate with internal verticals (City Ops, Technology, Strategy and Impact, Communications, Careers, Recruitment) and external partners to align efforts and grow impact.
- Spend time in classrooms to deeply understand the work, and act as an ambassador for Teach For India and educational equity.
- Support key organizational areas like Recruitment, Selection, Fundraising, Volunteering, and Movement Building.
Requirements
- 5+ years of work experience in entrepreneurship, innovation, or leadership.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in any field.
- Strong grounding in innovation and venture design, with proven excellence in program and system design.
- Strong project and program management skills, including session design and facilitation.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across all seniority levels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort with data and impact measurement to guide decisions.
- Personal experience of starting, running, or being part of an early-stage social enterprise is a plus.
- Experience supporting early-stage entrepreneurs through fundraising, team-building, sales, or legal work is a plus.
- Knowledge of education and entrepreneurship in the Indian context, and the ability to think in systems and platforms, is a plus.
