Role

Join Indus Action's ambitious mission to transform public welfare delivery in Bihar. You'll lead operations for Indus Action's groundbreaking programme with the Department of Labour Resources, driving policy redesign, capacity building, and large-scale implementation that makes welfare access sustainable and frictionless for vulnerable citizens across the state.

Responsibilities

  • Lead operations for Indus Action's partnership with Bihar's Department of Labour Resources, collaborating with organisations in the Project Management Unit
  • Conduct primary and secondary research to identify scheme implementation gaps, budget analysis, and process flow improvements
  • Create comprehensive policy and scheme-related memos and briefs for government stakeholders
  • Design and implement initiatives to enhance delivery of department schemes and programmes
  • Scout, evaluate, and onboard strategic partners to support and amplify Indus Action's impact
  • Manage project operations within allocated budgets while ensuring achievement of set goals and milestones
  • Build and maintain relationships across Education, Panchayat and Rural Development, Labour, and Health departments
  • Support design and implementation of new technology projects including portals and dashboards
  • Coordinate between technical personnel and government stakeholders to ensure milestone delivery
  • Conduct regular technical team meetings to monitor progress and address project challenges
  • Define clear deliverables, roles, and responsibilities for team members across specific initiatives

Requirements

  • Master's degree with 4-5 years of work experience, preferably in social sector
  • Proven experience leading and managing teams of 3+ people through projects for 1+ years
  • 2+ years of government partnership experience at district and state levels for large-scale projects
  • 3+ years of end-to-end project management with expertise in design thinking, planning, budget management, and M&E
  • Strong analytical skills for strategy creation and data analysis with report-writing capabilities
  • Understanding of technology systems for MIS setup and implementation optimization
  • Experience with fieldwork/primary research (preferred) and secondary research methods
  • Strong local understanding of Hindi language, culture, and terrain (preferred)
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management and collaboration skills
