Role
As the Senior Manager for Digital & Applied AI, you will lead the strategy for how technology can solve major challenges in health and development. Your purpose is to oversee digital interventions and build partnerships that use Artificial Intelligence and data to improve lives across India.
Responsibilities
- Lead all Digital and Applied AI initiatives across the India Country Office (ICO) and refine the foundation’s "AI for Good" strategy.
- Develop partnerships with national and state governments, tech collaboratives, and the philanthropic community to scale digital tools.
- Design, advise, and manage grants and contracts to fund innovative digital projects that address poverty and health.
- Serve as the primary liaison with key Indian Ministries and Departments to support digital transformation and long-term capacity building.
- Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of professionals, fostering a culture of accountability and development.
- Analyse project progress and write high-quality briefings to share results and lessons learned with foundation leadership.
- Leverage India’s digital strengths to create solutions that serve both India and the broader global mission.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in a relevant field (Tech, Health, Business, or Digital Development).
- 10+ years of experience implementing large-scale Digital & AI initiatives, with a deep understanding of India’s digital ecosystem.
- Proven track record in managing complex grants, contracts, and digital programs from inception to scale.
- Strong analytical thinking, public speaking skills, and the ability to work autonomously in a "matrixed" (collaborative/cross-functional) environment.
- A "culture ambassador" who is results-driven, comfortable with "professional courage" (asking hard questions), and passionate about social impact.
- Essential experience working within India and a solid understanding of developing country settings.
